Reflections, Inverted

A reflected scenic at Lake Beckwith in Colorado City, CO. Inverted. The mountain is Greenhorn Peak in the Wet Mountains; next is a conifer-studded ridge; beneath that, autumnal foliage on the lakeshore, then the tree trunks and shoreline. Below the shoreline is the “real” world, most of which is duly cropped off. Photographed in early November, 2009; Olympus digital, 10mp.

That’s an interesting picture I haven’t seen before. It reminds me of an author we were reading about in my “Imagining the West” course; of course, I can’t recall her name. She spoke about how images are how we look at them, not what they actually are – if you wouldn’t have mentioned this was a reflection rather than the “real thing,” several of us would have never guessed.
